The ancient Roman road: Via Claudia Augusta

Conquer the ancient Roman trade route!

It leads from the Adriatic Sea to the Donau, crosses the flat plains of the Po river, climbs over the passes of the Alps – and runs right past our hotel! The old Roman road Via Claudia Augusta is over 2,000 years old – and still worth exploring today. It was not only an important trade route between north and south but also an axis of meeting and cultural exchange between people. No wonder the regions around the Via Claudia Augusta experienced a remarkable period of prosperity. The well-known route can still be experienced today – while hiking in Tyrol, for instance. Set off on foot from the Hotel Post in Prutz and follow in the footsteps of the Etruscans, Venetians, Raetians, Celts, and finally, the Romans, who developed this important route. Or conquer the old Roman road by bike! We would be happy to give you our personal tips on how and where you can best experience the ancient trade route.
