Traditional Christmas biscuits

Baking during the Advent season

Bring Christmas flair to your home with our recipe for Austrian Vanillekipferl biscuits.

We love baking Christmas biscuits. And this year, our favourite ones are crescent-shaped, Austrian Vanillekipferl biscuits. Would you like to try them but won’t be spending your Christmas or New Year’s wellness holidays in our accommodation in Austria? Then try our recipe!

Ingredients
250g flour
130g icing sugar
1pkg. vanilla sugar
3 egg yolks
1 pinch of baking soda
200g butter
130 almonds, ground
50g icing sugar and 1 pkg. vanilla sugar for coating

Sift the flour and baking powder into a mixing bowl, then add the icing sugar, vanilla sugar, egg yolks, butter and almonds and knead into a dough with the help of a hand mixer. Wrap the dough in cling film and leave to rest in a cold place. After approx. 40 minutes, form the dough into rolls on a floured surface and cut them into pieces about 1 centimetre thick. Roll them again to make them about 7 centimetres long, then shape them into crescents and lay them on a baking sheet. Bake at approx. 180°C top and bottom heat for 10 minutes. Mix the icing sugar and vanilla sugar and roll the still warm Vanillekipferl biscuits in it. Have fun baking!
