The Kaunerberger Wasserweg trail

A cool hike for hot summer days

Would you like to go on stroll or hike in summer, but the heat is just too much for you?

Well, then the Kaunerberger Wasserweg trail is just the right thing for you. It is also called the “lifeline for the Kaunerberg slope”, as this is one of the driest regions in Austria. The irrigation system along the path enables the surrounding farmers to irrigate their fields and thus secures crop yields. Along the 15-kilometre-long path that leads from the Kaunerberg village centre to the Gallruttalpe (at 1,980m, highest point of the tour) and back to Kaunerberg, you’ll learn many interesting facts about the project. In total, you cover 935 metres in altitude in about six hours and enjoy a dreamlike panorama of the Kaunertal valley. Along the way, you’ll pass through the 996-metre long Gallruthstollen gallery, for which we recommend bringing a torchlight. Would you like to experience even more? Our accommodation in Austria is the perfect base camp for numerous hikes, bike tours, as well as rafting and paragliding adventures.
